Abstract : Within the framework of a project in collaboration between the University of Paris VIII and the school inspectorate of the Seine-Saint-Denis (93), two primary school teachers agreed to test the efficiency of two different methods of learning English. During 3 months, these two teachers divided their class into two groups to assure weekly courses of 45 minutes, by having for order to choose the skills in the official bulletin of the Education and to make the same English course to their two groups, the one taking place with the Silent Way approach (SW) and the other one with a traditional method (TM). During three months, five evaluations took place in whole class. The evaluations of the oral skills were tested to the paper given that the primary school teachers are not experts and\or do not have the necessary tools to note the oral skills of their pupils. Encouraging results were found.
