Spectators, Storytellers, Translators. Sites of Emancipation in Jacques Ranciere

It seems that the question of emancipation has never left the work table on which Jacques Rancière wrote his singular work. The present study explores definitions he has proposed about that question in articles published in the journal Logical Revolts as well as in books like Nights of Labour, The Ignorant Schoolmaster, The Emancipated Spectator including a lot of most recent publications. Between those texts we weawed a thread that follows the uses J. Ranciere makes of the idea of traduction by projecting and maping the emancipation processes on physical and theoretical sites, and by making himself free to create a dialogue between the most constituted philosophical answers and two important, real and conceptual figures encountered in the labour and educational archive : Louis-Gabriel Gauny or Joseph Jacotot. This text is from a paper presented May 9th and 10th 2019 at an International Symposium entitled From Modernity to Contemporary : Arts and Politics organized by the University of Sofia and the French Institut of Bulgaria.
