A semantic approach for discovering complex alignments

Abstract : This paper presents a new approach for discovering complex alignments that consist of complex correspondences between an atomic concept and a complex concept or between two complex concepts defined in OWL ontologies. This approach takes into account semantic aspects of entities which are imposed by ontology axioms. First, our method transforms OWL ontologies into graphs that represent semantic relationships between ontology entities. Next, it combines several classical aligners to generate correspondences between atomic entities. The main goal of this stage is to generate and enrich simple correspondences. Finally, in order to generate complex correspondences the method detects relevant subgraphs representing alignable formulae by exploiting their structure and a terminological similarity measure.
